What Is Ear Candling?

Thermal Auricular therapy (which is also known as Ear candling) is a very pleasant and relaxing treatment of the ears.

 

It is very effective in treating and relieving ear, nose and throat disorders e.g. treating sinus/ear problems, removing ear wax, catarrh, sinusitis, glue ear, headaches, sore throat, migraine, tinnitus and to help relieve pressure in the head prior to or after flying/diving.

 

It is an ancient and natural treatment that has been used by the Ancient Greeks and other civilisations for many years. This technique has been used for cleansing, purifying and healing on a spiritual and physical basis. The candles are made from natural ingredients such as beeswax, honey extracts, chamomile, St Johns Wort, beta-carotene and organically grown flax.

 

The process takes about 30 minutes and each candle burns for 10-12 minutes. During this time the client lies down comfortably and listens to relaxing music. The candle is gently placed into each ear, one at a time and is lit.

 

The candles work on a chimney principle, drawing out any impurities to the surface where they can be gently removed. Most clients will experience a pleasant crackling sound as the candle burns. This is a very warm and comfortable sensation. After the candle is extinguished, a scalp and facial massage is carried out.
